Competing in an IBJJF tournament or planning to? Make sure your Gi meets the official standards! At FightstorePro, we’ve got you covered with the latest IBJJF-compliant Gis to ensure you’re ready to compete.

Key Changes and Requirements:

  • Gi Color & Fabric:

    • The approved Gi colors are white, royal blue, and black.
    • The fabric must be cotton or a cotton blend and not excessively thick or hard to grab.
  • Gi Jacket Fit:

    • The jacket should cover the athlete’s buttocks and reach no more than 5 cm from the wrist when arms are extended forward.
    • Sleeves must be tailored appropriately to ensure the right fit.
  • Gi Pants Fit:

    • Pants must reach no more than 5 cm above the ankle bone.
    • Elastic material is not allowed; only drawstrings or similar traditional designs are permitted.
  • Patch and Logo Placement:

    • Patches should be placed in the IBJJF-allowed areas. Ensure no unauthorized logos or branding that might lead to disqualification.
  • Belt Requirements:

    • Belts must be 4 to 5 cm wide and of the appropriate color for your rank.
    • Ensure your belt is tied correctly with a double knot to avoid distractions during the competition.

  • More rigorous sleeve, jacket, and pant length checks.
  • Gi jacket weight between 380 gm and 650 gm for competition.
  • Kimono pants weight must be between 220 gm and 300 gm.
  • Gi thickness restrictions updated for fair gripping.
  • Patches must adhere to safety and competition standards.

 

No-Gi Requirements:

  1. Rashguard:

    • Athletes must wear a short- or long-sleeve rashguard in their rank color (black rashguards with rank indicators also allowed).
    • The rashguard must be skin-tight and cover the entire torso.
  2. Shorts:

    • No-Gi shorts should be black and can have a minimal trim of the athlete’s rank color.
    • No pockets or zippers are allowed on the shorts for safety reasons.
    • Shorts must be knee-length but no longer than that.
  3. Spats:

    • Athletes are allowed to wear spats under their shorts, but these must also adhere to IBJJF color rules.
  4. Patches and Logos:

    • Ensure that no logos, patches, or designs interfere with the visibility of rank or obstruct any grip areas
