CUSTOM BOXING RINGS

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO GET THE RIGHT BOXING RING FOR YOUR GYM

FightstorePro understands that building a combat sports facility for the first time can feel like a minefield of choices — so let us help take the pain out of it. We assist with every aspect of building a combat sports facility, and our custom boxing rings are built to order in the UK and with our European partners to match your space, budget, and training needs exactly.

The ring is usually the centrepiece of a gym, and it's rarely cheap — so getting it right matters. Our goal is simple: get you the custom boxing ring or cage you actually want, at a price that works. It's why gym owners who build with FightstorePro tend to stay with FightstorePro for every ring, cage, and refit after.

FAQ's

When fitting a gym, there's a lot to consider. Below we have tried to answer as many of the questions we are often asked by organisations building or refitting a gym.

All the options

Type of Boxing Ring

When you order a custom boxing ring, you're choosing between two core builds: a floor ring or a raised platform ring. Both can be tailored in size, height, matting, canvas, and corner posts.

Floor Rings
A floor ring is built with a frame of squared steel, either fixed to the floor or freestanding — your choice depends on the space and how permanent the setup needs to be. FightstorePro uses quality steel and a high standard of welding on every custom boxing ring we build; this matters more than most buyers realise, because poorly welded frames or thin, cheap steel are almost a guarantee of problems down the line. Floor rings can be finished with 20mm matting, plain or printed canvas, and standard FightstorePro or fully customised corner posts.

Platform Rings
A raised platform ring is built on a metal carcass, with the frame covered in wooden boards, a matted underlay, and canvas tied over foam padding. The result is a floor that's springy and strong but still soft underfoot — the closest a training ring gets to true competition feel.

General Boxing Ring Information

Every custom boxing ring we build is made to order, so the honest answer to "what size ring do I need?" is: any size that suits your facility. That said, here's how sizing typically breaks down:

  • Standard range: Boxing rings are usually built between 16ft and 24ft.
  • Competition rings: Average around 22ft.
  • Small training rings: Occasionally as compact as 8–12ft, though this is rare.
  • Amateur/Olympic standard: The International Boxing Association (IBA), which sanctions Olympic-style amateur boxing worldwide, requires a 20ft x 20ft ring for all contests — the same size used at the Olympic Games.
  • Professional rings: Sizing varies by promotion, but professional contest rings are generally no smaller than 18ft x 18ft and no larger than 24ft x 24ft.

The Three Styles of Boxing Ring

Floor Boxing Rings — No platform; the ring sits within an outer frame at ground level. The interior can be finished in 20mm matting, standard canvas, or both.

Elevated (Low Platform) Boxing Rings — Still considered a training ring, but raised roughly 12–18 inches to create a true sprung floor much closer to competition feel.

Competition Boxing Rings — Built on a steel platform raising the ring a full 3 feet, matching professional and televised contest standards.

FightstorePro builds and customises all three styles to suit your facility's requirements — have it your way. All rings are custom made either in the UK or with our European partners, so if you have a non-standard requirement, get in touch and we'll work out how to build it.

How soon can I receive delivery of a Boxing Ring or Cage?

Lead times vary depending on production schedule and the specifics of the ring or cage that you need. Average waiting time is 6-8 weeks. It is always best to order a ring a long way in advance of opening your facility.

European and UK delivery times will be different, again depending on distances and production schedule.

How long does delivery take for a custom boxing ring or cage?

Lead times depend on our production schedule and the specification of the ring or cage you need. On average, allow 6–8 weeks. If you're opening a new facility, order your ring well in advance — sizing and finish changes are far easier to make before production starts than after. UK and European delivery times will differ slightly depending on distance and current production load.

How do I set up a custom boxing ring?

Construction is more straightforward than most people expect. With our instruction video or printed setup sheet, two people can typically assemble a ring in a couple of hours, even with no prior experience. Experienced ring assemblers can put up a full-size competition ring in under an hour. For larger projects or permanent competition rings, we can arrange assembly assistance charged at day rates, and where extra hands are needed locally, we've partnered with nearby ring hire companies to help with construction.

What size should my custom boxing ring be?

There's no fixed answer — all our rings are made to order. As a guide: amateur/Olympic contests require 20ft x 20ft, professional rings run 18ft–24ft per side, and training rings can be built anywhere from 8ft up. Tell us your available floor space and intended use, and we'll recommend a size that fits both.

What's the difference between a floor ring, platform ring, and competition ring?

Floor rings sit at ground level with no platform; low platform rings raise the ring 12–18 inches for a sprung-floor feel while remaining a training ring; competition rings raise the platform a full 3 feet to match professional contest standards. All three are available as fully custom boxing rings from FightstorePro.
