We have some exciting fights to look forward to at the start of this summer. Cage warriors have been putting on solid shows for some time; and fortunately they are now getting more and more recognized on a global scale. I'm here to discuss the upcoming Cage Warriors 69 event most importantly two fights in particular.
Former TUF: The Smashes alumni Bola 'Cashflow' Omeyele fights Jack 'Hammer' Marshman. Bola is represented by the Elite MMA agency and stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and is 32 years of age. He has a professional record of 7 wins and 2 losses, without a single fight having gone to decision. Bola has always been very big fighting at the 77kg mark and after his most recent setback (to another experienced TUF veteran Aaron Wilkinson) 'Cashflow' is appearing to try and bring back that vicious knockout streak that he had going for him previously. Bola has come along way having only started fighting in MMA in 2010 and already has been featured on the well known Ultimate Fighter TV program. His opponent is the very young capable Jack Marshman. Marshman is 6 foot tall and at only 24 years of age has 19 professional fights under his belt. His overall record is 14 wins and 5 losses, with only four of those fights having gone to decision and 10 of his 14 wins coming via knockout or t.k.o Marshman is also coming off a loss in his previous fight, however prior too that he had a two fight win streak. I always knew of Jack for being essentially Tom Watsons final stepping stone before being offered a UFC contract. Marshman is a tough experienced young fighter who will without a doubt be a tough measure for Bola, but a win for him should land him in the top 10. I have to say with his recent training at American Top Team in Miami, that Bola will be a man you want to keep your eye on in the future. Expect fireworks from the start as these two knockout artists go head to head with each other on June 7th.
The next fight I would like to discuss is between another Elite MMA agency prodigy Luke 'Nukem' Newman, who will be fighting against tough Northern Irishman Ronan 'The Barbarian' Mckay. I must say that Luke by far has one of the coolest nicknames I've seen for a fighter in a long time. Luke is 24 years old stands 6 feet tall and is fighting at the 84kg mark, although is expected to drop back down to 77kg for his next fight. Luke is coming off the first loss of his career at Bamma 12. A loss to a man this young can normally be dangerous for his opponent as I have no doubt it would've been a powerful learning experienced and I expect to see Luke 'Nukem' coming in for the kill come fight night. Luke has also been training at American top team Miami and holds all of his wins via finishes in the first round. His opponent Ronan Mckay has a journeyman record of 10 wins and 11 losses however do not let that fool you. He won his first ever fight as an amateur against the above Jack Marshman and then proceeded to go 1 and 6 over his next 7 fights. After this rough start he did rack up some nice wins including a submission victory over current TUF fighter Cathal Pendred. He is currently riding a 3 fight win streak with all the wins coming via finish in round 1 or 2. Without a doubt this fight is going to be a war as the young lion looks to bounce back from his first setback, and the capable veteran is looking to build upon his resurgence which would bring his win/loss ratio to equal. Each man has everything to win or lose in this fight, so make sure to have your other half putting the kids away and serving you drinks, while you stay seated and watch some hardcore combat athlete action.
