MMA Gloves - Buying advice

Since the UFC introduced small 4oz gloves in 1997 during a series of reforms to bring the sport of MMA into line with other more regulated Combat sports the market for Mixed Martial Arts Gloves has exploded over the last 15 years resulting in a plethora of choice for the modern Martial arts fighter with a whole host of brands bringing forward their take on the MMA Glove. Like in boxing there are essentially two types of glove widely used in the sport Competition and Sparring which are separated by weights of 4 and 7oz respectively. In Competition 4oz is the standard however the “unified” rules published by the UFC themselves (SEE HERE) do not specifically state 4oz as the only size available saying “Not exceeding 6oz”. With the rise of “B” Class or “Amatuer” Rules competition over the last few years 6 and 7oz gloves could also be seen as a competition glove. Without the long history and unification of Rules such as within boxing there is still a lot of “interpretation” in Mixed Martial Arts with many organisations choosing their version of rule sets but slowly the gloves are becoming more and more standardised. In terms of picking gloves there are a whole host of very poorly constructed items with not understanding of the sport even from recognised MMA, Boxing and Thai manufacturers therefore at Fightstorepro recommends only a small range of products we have vetted and approved for quality and safety. When starting the sport it will quite often be the case that Boxing gloves are still a priority over MMA initially as the striking training for MMA is essentially very similar to Muay Thai or Kickboxing but this can be variable depending on the coaching methodology.

Great quality but a little stiff

Good gloves and have lasted for years but are insanely stiff and would not recommend for competition use. Try the Revgear challenger if you are nearer fight day. The quality on this glove you can't beat though and the style is cool

These gloves are really useful for MMA sparring. The padding means you can practice MMA stand up and ground and pound without worrying about hurting your training partners and the double wrist strap offers really good support. The fit is great too - your fingers don't slip out of the loops during grappling.

Me and my son train a couple of times a week. Since we been training for a while now only high standard products are good enough for him. We bought this whole package and we are so satisfied. The gear is very endurable and has a good fit, also my son really enjoyed the looks of it. I recomend all kids who train martial arts in a hard and serious way to use the Revgear products, it is not easy to find good fight gears for kids. I also would like to give my thanks to the customer support of fightstorepro, you were so helpful when things went a bit wrong. Quick response and Quick solving the problem, impressive work! Kind regards michel and son
